Do all buildings need a survey?

Q. Do all buildings need a survey?

A. The requirements as set out by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), refers to non-domestic properties, this include all commercial properties but also tenanted properties where common parts of a building fall under the requirements to identify asbestos.

Although the regulations do not cover domestic properties asbestos materials are commonly found in homes. Dwellers and builders / maintenance workers and the insurance industry are instructing surveys to be carried out on domestic properties and are also recommended for home buyers prior to purchase.
